Department Highlights

Students are actively involved in the promotion of art and creativity across the school and wider community. Their work is showcased in an annual exhibition at The Alnwick Playhouse , across the school campus and through the Saatchi Gallery as part of their online exhibition space for schools.

Students  are encouraged to act as buddies and ambassadors for lower school , to help, nurture and inspire younger students. They work closely with English, Drama, Textiles , Film and Music departments to create scenery and props for the school play and musicals, whilst often performing themselves.

Visits to Newcastle, Edinburgh, Berwick, Durham, local museums and galleries aim to enhance students appreciation and understanding of art and design, whilst links to local Universities and colleges (Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland , Teeside and Newcastle College) seek to broaden students own practice and the opportunities open to them as creative practitioners in a commercial setting.
