The Learing Resource Centre (LRC), based in the Main School building, is a whole school resource for students and staff. It provides a welcoming and supportive environment where students are encouraged to discover the enjoyment of reading and lifelong learning. It has a wide range of stock, space for private study and leisure reading, as well as IT facilities for individual and class use.

Our Aims

  • Reading recommendations - helping students and staff to find a great book to read and to expand their reading horizons

  • Help and advice with research and information skills to help students become independent learners

  • Reading groups for sharing and discussing books, including participation in the North East Teenage Book Award

  • Author visits and other activities

  • Quizzes and competitions for national events such as World Book Day

Using The LRC

The complete book catalogue (via Searchstar) is available on all computers in school. Books are checked out at the counter for 2 or 3 weeks. Longer periods and renewals can be arranged. Students are welcome to reserve books that are out on loan and to suggest titles they would like to see in stock.

All LRC users should respect the resources and may not bring food or drink into the area.
