The Duchess’s High School Trust is delighted to bring you Alnwick’s first ever virtual pet show. This is a fun event for the whole community which will also raise money for a great cause. Anyone can enter and, with thirteen classes, there is something for everyone, whether you have a pampered pooch, a cool cat or even a duck with a great hairdo! Entries are just £1 per pet per class and, thanks to the generosity of local businesses in our community, we have some really amazing prizes to be won.
The Best In Show prize has been kindly donated by Purple Pomegranate Photography Studio in Alnwick. We asked their photographer, Fiona, for some advice about how to take that purrfect photo of your pet. Here’s her top tips:
1. Eye level – try to photograph your pet at their level, don’t point your camera down on them. Either crouch down or, if they are quite small, think about lifting them up on something like a tabletop. Likewise, if it’s a taller pet, don’t shoot up their nose – stand on a stool if you need to.2. Background – the picture should be all about your pet. Make sure where you are photographing them is clutter free and clear of distractions.3. Treats – keep treats handy, dangling right over the camera lens if necessary. A squeaky toy can help to get them to look at the camera too.4. Don’t forget to reward them for their amazing modelling efforts!
Every penny raised will support The Duchess’s High School Trust, registered charity number 1038646.
